Episode #2 – Treat minor ailments whilst on the mountain
It’s summer and you may have planned beautiful walks or different sporting activities while on holiday on the mountain but unfortunately, muscle soreness may arise after the very first day…
Nothing serious, however, if stiff muscles persist, they may hamper your plans. Excessive effort can caused microtrauma. It leads to torn muscle fibres and minor bruising and inflammation responsible for the pain.
Follow these few steps to ease the pain:
- Macerated arnica oil (Arnica montana)
Apply a small amount of macerated arnica oil to the sore areas. It absorbs the bruising, working on inflammation and pain linked to muscle stiffness.
Thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties, calophyllum oil or jojoba liquid wax can be used as a substitute. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers are advised to take them. They are associated with mountain arnica seeds in homeopathy
- An aromatic bath with super or abrial essential lavender oil (Lavandula hybrida)
Pour a dozen drops of essential oil into a coffee cup filled with a neutral base for the bath (shower gel or bath soak will work well too). Pour teh mix into the bath and unwind
- A cold shower is an ideal addition. Alternating between hot and cold water has positive effects on muscle stiffness
Please use cautiously: essential oils are allergenic substances and are contraindicated in the event of seizures. An aromatic bath is contraindicated for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers
Your return to sporting activities should be gradual. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water and take a little time to stretch and do gentle yet active warm-up exercises, which closely resemble your sport.
